It dawned on me that this site is going to need a dictionary.  My Vietnamese vocabulary has extended from mango to one, two, three, four, five to iced coffee with milk and beef noodle soup.  I’m learning transportation words–bus, motorbike, car, bicycle, stop-and-go light–from my talkative xeom driver Tien, who also gave me a lecture on the importance of wearing sleeves to protect myself from the sun.  So, here we go.  The dictionary is a work in progress (like my Vietnamese).  It will be divided into categories ranging from food to transportation to clothes to whatever else comes up in life.

xeom (say ahm): motorbike taxi

xe may (say mai/say my): motorbike

xe auto: car

xe buyt (say bweet): bus

xe dap (say daap-ends with a soft /p/ sound): bicycle
